8 Things To Look For In A Microblading Artist

7 Things To Look For In A Microblading Artist

Microblading has been one of the hottest trends to hit the beauty industry in recent years. All with good reason as well-groomed brows act to frame the eyes and highlight your best features.

In fact, strong brows can make you look put-together on a makeup free day and the right eyebrow shape can brighten your appearance and make you look more youthful.

All good reasons to let a Microblading Pro sort them out for you.

However, due to it's popularity an increasing number of microblading technicians seem to be popping up. Having been on my PhiBrows Microblading course and finding out myself the small percentage of students who actually pass the course, I can not help but wonder how many of them are true 'Professionals'?

The reason why I am writing this blog post on a Sunday Night is because I happen to come across what I consider to be really poor work which made me want to share the following pointers with you:

  1. Is your Microblading Technician Certified? Simply put, your technician should have been on microblading specific course. They should (most likely) had to do case studies and they should be able to present you with a Certificate of Completion of the course.

  2. Is your Microblading Technician Licenced? This is critical as you technician would require a tattoo licence to perform a microblading procedure. If your technican does not have a licence, they are not operating legally. This should be a red flag as you would not know what other requirements or laws they may not be following.

  3. Is your Microblading Technician Insured? Any professional would have insurance which would cover at a minimum Public & Product Liability. Often it covers additional areas of insurance such as for instance Treatment Risk, Financial Loss etc.

  4. Is your Microblading Technician Open & Honest? A good technician does not have anything to hide. They should be able to answer any questions you may have, show you their practice skins, their equipment as well as their pigments. They should be transparent about their training, experience, licence, experience & certifications. Trust your instinct here... If you feel something is off, don't go ahead with the treatment as this is your face!

  5. Does your Microblading Technician have Positive Reviews? Check their Facebook Page, Google, Yell.com etc for client reviews. This is such an easy way to get a feel about your technician. If you can, look out for reviews on the procedure, the results and aftercare.

  6. Does your Microblading Technician Offer Advice? You are the client and your microblading technician should listen to your wishes with regards to shape as well as colour. As a matter of fact, they should not proceed with the procedure without getting a firm 'go ahead' from yourself. However, do bare in mind that your microblading technician should be a professional which means that you should be able to put a great deal of trust in them to get it right. They have been specifically trained in brow design as well as colour theory and should offer advise on your wishes. Your microblading technician will refuse to do anything which is dangerous, does not heal well or is not aesthetically appropriate.

  7. Does your Microblading Technician have Before & Afters? Microblading combines both science & art and it is not surprising that each microblading technician, even if they have undergone the same training, has their own individual style. Your technician should encourage you to look at their previous work so you know what to expect and to check you like their style.

  8. Does your Microblading Technician Charge a Reasonable Rate? Do not look for a great deal on your brows. Cheap is not always cheerful & we are talking about your face after all! Microblading is a skill which takes hundreds & hundreds of hours to perfect. Providing a high quality microblading service using the best tools simply requires a minimum cost. Be prepared to pay it.

These are the 7 main things I believe you should look for in a Microblading Tech. Overall, make sure you feel comfortable and have a good feeling about the treatment. If you have any questions feel free to let me know. I am happy to answer anything!

Lots of Lashes,

Kris xoxo
